Local Government
GMB Southern has members in every Local Authority in the region, from Dorset to Kent, from Oxfordshire…

As with all regions of GMB, Southern Region work hard to bring under-represented groups within the union to the table to ensure their voices are heard, their perspectives are understood and that members of these equality strands are represented at every level of union business.
We in Southern Region work hard to listen to our women members, with reserved seats on our Regional Equality Forum, reserved delegate spaces at Congress and of course our hugely successful annual Women's Conference. We have been at the forefront of rolling out Menopause policies in employers in our region to benefit women in the workplace, and run training on sexual harassment awareness and similar issues for our reps and activists, not to mention our Equal Pay Campaigning - working hard to win equal pay for the equal work that women do in councils across the region.
If you are a woman and are interested in shaping policy, planning events and conferences or attending meetings to discuss training needs, all for the benefit of 52% of our union membership, please fill in the form below.
