Southern Region NHS Industrial Action Ballot 2021

GMB members working across the NHS voted overwhelmingly to reject the Government’s 3% because it is in fact a Pay Cut.

The Government have ignored you and decided to impose this pay cut regardless - so GMB is now holding a formal ballot for industrial action. GMB is seeking an increase of 15% or £2 an hour (whichever is the greater).

Your ballot paper will arrive by post from the independent balloting organisation Civica after the 10th November.

This ballot is your opportunity to let Government know exactly how you feel about what they have done. If we receive a strong enough vote in favour of taking action, from the majority of our members, we will call for action and be in a position to try and influence Government to reconsider and offer you something that really does recognise your true value.

GMB is recommending you VOTE YES to both questions on the ballot paper

GMB members care about the service users and patients they work with, and GMB will take account of patient safety in any action with appropriate exemptions.

This ballot for each NHS employer will be a stand alone ballot. Results of the ballot will be recorded by employer.

It’s vitally important that you have your say so please make sure you take part in this vote. We need the majority of members to call for action for us to be able to continue with your pay campaign.

The ballot closes at 12 noon on Wednesday 15th December 2021. The result will be posted on GMB websites as soon as possible thereafter, along with notification to all members.

Our strength is in our numbers. If your work colleague is not a union member ask them to join the GMB and they can vote too – www.gmb.org.uk/nhs-join
