GMB ISS members at SLAM NHS Trust accept pay award
“If valued GMB members had not shown their solidarity, there would have been a very strong possibility that this year’s pay rise would have never been awarded”, says GMB Southern
GMB members working for ISS at the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust are to receive a pay award of 2.3% backdated to 1 May 2018. ISS requested a meeting with GMB Union following the overwhelming result for GMB strike action after a ballot of members.
Full details of the pay award were then communicated to members, which resulted in the majority of GMB members voting to accept.
Mick Butler, GMB Regional Organiser said: "I will be informing ISS of our GMB member’s decision to accept this year’s pay award and that the 2.3% uplift and back pay be processed through pay role as soon as possible as agreed.
"If valued GMB members had not voted in the strike action ballot the way they did, showing their solidarity, I believe that there would have been a very strong possibility that this year’s pay rise would have never been awarded.
"GMB Union’s commitment to our members remains the same; our goal is to strive towards all GMB members (ISS SLAM) being on the London Living Wage and to improve the terms and conditions of work. GMB will continue to campaign and negotiate on behalf of members and if necessary ballot our members again for strike action to achieve this for our membership going forward.
"Our members should all be very proud in what they have achieved in this dispute; it would not have been possible without their support and by sticking together as a collective group of GMB union workers."
