Swindon Council waters down forced academy plan - but it's still not enough, says GMB union
GMB remains vigilant about potential job losses as Swindon Borough Council pushes ahead with plans to force all schools into MATs.

GMB is the largest trade union amongst school support staff including teaching assistants, HLTAs, cover supervisors, nursery nurses, lunchtime supervisors, premises staff, and administrative & finance staff.
Teachers had their workload reduced which resulted in a change and expansion of Support Staff roles. We in GMB know the difference Teaching Assistants and support staff make every single day. In these circumstances it is more important than ever to belong to a trade union. Collectively your voice is stronger. On an individual level we represent members in grievance and disciplinary meetings, offer legal advice and also offer criminal legal support in the case of false allegations being made.
