GMB, the union for local government workers, will protest and lobby a full Dorset County Council (DCC) meeting on 21 July 2016, over DCC proposals to increase Heads of Service salaries at a cost of around £60,000. The protest will take place at 8:30am on Thursday, 21st July 2016 at the address as follows:

Outside the main entrance,
County Hall,
Colliton Park,
Dorchester
DT1 1XJ

Ross Murdoch GMB Regional Organiser said “GMB members are vehemently opposed to these proposals and believe it smacks of hypocrisy at a time when council services are being axed and there is a real squeeze on other council employees’ jobs, pay and terms and conditions”.

Our members believe that all residents in Dorset who pay council tax should be asking why money that could be invested in maintaining valuable services is instead being proposed to offer large salary rises to a small number of heads of service. GMB would like to invite anyone wanting to show their support to attend the demonstration tomorrow.”
