GMB has commented on the resignation of Secretary of State for Work and Pensions Iain Duncan Smith over cuts to disability benefits in the budget announced on Wednesday,16 March 2016.

In his resignation letter to Prime Minister David Cameron, Iain Duncan Smith described the £1.3 billion pounds in cuts to disability benefits as “a compromise too far”.

Tim Roache, GMB General Secretary, said “It’s a shame that it’s taken Iain Duncan Smith six years to get his head round the fact that the government is benefiting the richest, rather than working people, let alone the disabled. But, better late than never.”
