Care Workers Night Shift Survey

GMB is the campaigning Trade Union for Care Workers. Recently there have been some notable cases concerning the rates of pay for workers who ‘sleep in’ during shifts. Many of you will be paid a flat rate for these shifts.

After spending many years making the argument that such activities should be covered by the National Minimum Wage, the GMB have managed to get the HMRC to issue guidance supporting our claim.

If you are a care worker and you want to make sure that your sleep-ins are paid in compliance with the National Wage, you should fill in our form.  You may be eligible to receive some back pay for shifts already worked, too.

A copy of the form is available for download below – this needs printing out, completing and returning to us at the freepost address at the bottom of the form.  Alternatively, contact your local GMB office and we will post you out a form with a prepaid envelope.
