Members taking action today and tomorrow after membership reject pay offer amid redundancy threat

GMB members at Net-A-Porter’s Charlton warehouse will take two days of strike action starting today [Tuesday 7 July].

The workers have rejected the company's latest pay offer, with fresh redundancies adding to growing anger across the workforce.

The ballot saw a 73.3 per cent turnout, with 69.7 per cent of members voting to reject the offer.

The industrial action had previously been scheduled but was postponed to allow meaningful negotiations to take place, brokered by ACAS.

Craig Prickett, GMB Regional Organiser, said:

“GMB postponed strike action in good faith to allow negotiations under the auspices of ACAS.

“Our members wanted to reach an agreement and gave the company every opportunity to improve its offer.

“Members are raising serious concerns that a significant part of the proposed pay package relies on performance targets they believe are unrealistic, unachievable and, in many cases, outside of employees' control.

“The dispute has further intensified following the announcement of a further round of redundancies, leaving many employees facing uncertainty over their jobs.

“Industrial action is always a last resort, but our members have spoken clearly and deserve a fair pay increase and to be treated with the respect their hard work deserves.

“The door remains open.  If the company is prepared to return to meaningful negotiations with an improved offer, GMB is ready to engage.”
