Pay increase for staff in local government and most academies & schools delayed
Your Pay is the most important issue for most GMB members. After all, it’s the main reason we go to work. As much as we may enjoy our jobs, we wouldn’t go to work for free!
GMB is committed to fight for a fair pay deal for its members, whether in the public or private sector, including a major campaign for a proper living wage of £10 an hour for all workers.
Employers are obliged to consult and negotiate with us for pay deals in all recognised workplaces, so the more of your colleagues join the union, the better chance that we can secure a pay rise for you all. Studies suggest that workers in a unionised workplace can earn up to £4000 a year more than those in non-unionised workplaces.
GMB’s full ballot of all members in councils, schools and most academies closed on 14th March with a big majority in favour of accepting the offer from the Employers.
GMB can confirm that a majority of GMB members have voted to accept the Environment Agencies’s offer on pay. This was the case too with the other 3 recognised Unions.
