For the last 6 months the GMB and other Trade Unions have been in consultation and negotiation with Sutton Council in regards to significant changes to Terms & Conditions and policies, which includes all employees directly employed by Sutton Council and support staff in certain schools.
The GMB and other trade unions have been successful in getting significant changes to the council’s original proposals that were presented to us in February/March 2015. GMB will be organising a number of workplace meetings in the next 2 to 3 weeks to brief members with details of the current position. In parallel with these, the GMB will also be organising a ballot for all affected members on whether to accept or reject the current revised proposals. Please note that if you are not a GMB member, you will not be entitled to receive a ballot form from us.
With regards to the ballot, I need to inform members that the current proposals (as available for download below) have been reached as the best possible position achievable through negotiation. Also if the current proposals are rejected then the council may reserve the right to revert to implementing the original proposal, which I may add is less favourable, by dismissal and re-engagement of employees by 1st April 2016.
If any of your colleagues are not in a trade union and wish to join, or if you would like us to come out and visit your workplace to meet you and your colleagues, please contact Mick Simpkin on 0208 397 8881 or email email@example.com
Alternatively, if you have any questions regarding any of the above, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
